Marnix Hoogendoorn
Born in the Netherlands, Marnix Hoogendoorn grew up in the heart of a polder—a peaceful haven, sheltered from the turbulence of the modern world. But when the reality of contemporary society eventually caught up with him, he felt lost. He experienced a deep, urgent need to leave everything behind and set out on a long journey across the globe. Upon returning to the Netherlands, he withdrew into deep introspection, where art became a vital refuge. While he cannot live without literature or music, it is through painting that he discovered his raison d'être.
Later, Marnix Hoogendoorn settled in Paris and embraced an intense family life. He worked for a multinational company by day, and painted in his studio by night. To fill the emptiness he felt during the day, creation became an essential need.
By the end of 2019, unable to maintain this dual existence, he took a sabbatical year entirely devoted to developing his artistic practice. From 2021 onward, he committed to it fully. Today, he lives with his wife and their three children in a small village on the edge of a forest, where he works either in his studio or outdoors.
